Unapologetically Shine Your Light

There was a time I would sit in a gathering and roll my eyes the moment someone introduced themselves with too much “I do this, I’ve done that…” In my head, I would tag them “oversabi.” Like, who asked you? Must you say everything?

I used to think it was unnecessary. I believed you should keep it simple. Maybe you should let your work speak for itself, and save the details. But guess what? Things don’t work this way sometimes.

In those very moments of what I once dismissed as “oversabiness,” I’ve watched people get noticed, seal collaborations, and get opportunities  all because they refuse to be quiet about what they do. They didn’t shrink. They spoke with clarity, boldness, and conviction about what they carry.

Nobody had to teach me before I unlearned that mindset. I realised those people weren’t being proud; they were simply shining their light.

If you’re good at something, say it. If you’ve done the work, speak on it. It’s not pride. It’s visibility. And in a world that rarely hands you a mic, you better learn to take the stage.

Shine, loudly. Shine boldly. Shine unapologetically. The world won’t know your light if you keep dimming it.
